Excellent. Thats the only word I can think to describe it simply.

Value

Value for money wise you get alot of camera for your money. At 8.3 MPixel and jam packed with lots of gagdets and gizmo's, I personally think it's fantastic for the amateur photographer.

Performance

Outstanding! When coupled with the underwater housing (also supplied by FujiFilm) you have the option to set a shooting mode designed for underwater photography and it gives fantastic images. If you use the camera in its housing, but out of the water - you may find the image appears slightly dull. This is a tiny point, but even when the brightness has been dulled ever-so slightly the images are still fantastic. The supplied housing is also excellent. A rotating knob is used to move between different shooting modes - its easy grip even with gloves on so ideal for us British divers in cold waters. The on-board microphone is also very good if you like hearing the sound of your breathing in your videos. At 8 MP you get incredible quality pictures, I do like to turn the res. down to about 4 so that the camera takes the image faster.

Verdict

I highly recommend this camera, its simple to use, very intuitive, behaves as you would expect. I give the camera and its housing a 10/10. Perfect starting camera for the amateur photographer. I highly recommend that if you like to shoot video that you invest in the maximum 2 gb memory card as at full res (640x480) you only get 15 minutes of video time.
