Playa Del Carmen, Mexican Riviera - Diving Holiday Destination
Playa Del Carmen, Mexican Riviera (Mexico)
Playa Del Carmen is the largest town situated on the Mexican Riviera Maya, a 72 mile stretch of coastline along the Yucatan Peninsula, and is a 50 minute ride south of Cancun Airport. It’s a 35 minute ferry ride from Cozumel. The region is known for its uncrowded, tranquil, white sandy beaches, and, of course, diving!
Playa Del Carmen began life as a small fishing village and building laws have kept building heights down, helping to maintain a quaint unspoiled feel and unrestricted sea views. Now, it’s an established tourist destination. It’s a more relaxed place than Cancun or Cozumel, but the tourist is well catered for on 5th Avenue, which has a variety of shops, cuisine and nightlife, with the liveliest nightlife being on 12th Street.
Playa Del Carmen has beautiful ocean reefs and unique caverns (cenotes) to offer the diver.
