Talamanca - Diving Holiday Destination

Talamanca (Ibiza)

Spain is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world, attracting more than 50 million visitors each year. Most tourists book cheap flights for a couple of weeks of sun, sand, and sangria to the Spanish "costas", which are spread along Spain's Mediterranean coastline. Beyond the main tourist traps there are rich and varied landscapes in this huge country of many contrasts. Spain is also a popular diving destination that can offer Mediterranean diving.

The Balearics consist of 3 islands, Ibiza, Mallorca(Majorca) and Menorca(Minorca), and they can provide clear and warm scuba diving conditions. The islands have numerous scuba diving operators and clubs. Diving can be done all year round, but winter is a little unpredicatable. Although the Balearics have a reputation for lively nightlife, there are pockets of peace and tranquillity to be found.

Ibiza is famous for its traditional Spanish Towns, Countryside, Beaches, vibrant nightlife and can offer accommodation from budget hostels to luxury hotels.

Warm, clear waters and over 200 kilometres of spectacular coastline make Ibiza a popular resort for both amateur and professional divers, almost the whole year round. There are many excellent and qualified diving schools located around the island offering courses from Beginner up to Advanced. Dive locations include cave dives and wreck dives. The water is particularly clear around Ibiza.

Talamanca is a peaceful resort with a beautiful sandy beach, the picturesque Bay of Talamanca is just 15 minutes walk along the Marina from Ibiza Town. There are several hotels lining the bay of Talamanca with fantastic views of Ibiza Town at night and some excellent restaurants on the beach.

Although there are no shops or supermarkets in Talamanca itself, the village of Jesus is a 15 minute walk away. There you will find some delightful cafés and restaurants, supermarkets, shops, banks and international press. From the Western side of the Bay (the side nearest Ibiza Town) you can catch a regular ferry boat into Ibiza Town, which runs until midnight. Alternatively take a leisurely stroll along the promenade past the Marina to the port area of Ibiza.

The Marina itself is split into two sections: The Marina Botafoc, nearest Talamanca, with high class restaurants and boutiques, and the Marina Nueva, nearer Ibiza Town, where the ferries to Formentera embark.

Talamanca is a very popular holiday destination, as it offers wonderful relaxation, a broad sandy beach and is still very near to Pacha and El Divino and the shrill and vibrant night-scene in the Port of Ibiza.

Talamanca Beach is a long, curved sandy beach which borders Talamanca Bay. The waters close to shore are shallow and great for family bathing. Shady areas are sparse, so take cover ups.
All of the hotels have stunning views of the old town of Ibiza, especially when lit at night.
Activities: Pedaloes, windsurf school, banana boat
Beach Size: 900 metres long; 25 metres wide

Climate

Summer - May until October
The summer season and the first really warm beach days begin in May, with beautiful clear, sunny days and temperatures in the mid-twenties. From June to September, there is very little rain fall. In August and September the temperature rises up to over 30º C. Ibiza has a remarkably mild climate - even in winter the temperature rarely drops under 0º celsius. From November to April the average daytime temperature is about 15º celsius - however when the sun comes out this can rapidly climb to 25º C.

It does rain - but a general rule of thumb is that it only rains for 3 days at a time (at least that's what us locals say!). Ibiza in Winter is not a beach destination, although on sunny days you'll find sun-worshippers on the beach, many of whom still swim!
