This dive is most suited to experienced scuba divers due to the depths reached. It is also used by technical divers to practise decompression diving. Advanced Open Water is a minimum.
Angelita is said to be a once in a lifetime scuba diving experience due to the special phenomenen of fresh and salt water creating a hydrogen sulphate layer.
The Cenote Angelita, a circular hole which goes straight down, is reached following a 5 minute hike through jungle habitation. The water is fresh and clear, although at about 30m there is the layer of hydrogen sulphate to pass through, which resembles a huge cloud. Whilst passing through the layer, you are invisible to fellow scuba divers. This experience is said to be very spiritual. Once through the cloud, you get to the salt water part of the cenote where it is much darker.
