Gran Cenote (Tulum)
Cave Dive Site
Dive Type: Gran Cenote Cave/Cavern system
Gran Cenote
Average Depth: 12m (50ft)
Maximum Depth: 15m (42ft)
Located 4km from Tulum, on the Mexican Riviera Maya.
There are some facilities on site: toilets are available, but no catering. There are some gear tables for kitting up, and the approach to the entry point isn’t far, but does involve wooden steps.
This is thought to be one of the best cenote dives in the area, with cavern and cave. Its part of the Sac Aktun cave system. It has a very beautiful entrance with lotus flowers on the surface. It’s suitable for inexperienced divers, as a depth of 10m is usually maintained. There are lots of beautiful white formations of stalactites, stalagmites and columns all over.
The best dives in this part of the system include: the Cenote Calimba Reverse, Cuza Nah Loop and Paso De Lagarto Main line.
