There are a few cave dives available from Vela Luka and Korcula, out of which Modra Spilja (the Blue Cave) is the most famous.

The cave has been accessible since 1884, and the approach is possible only by boat.

You enter the Blue Hole only 9m below the surface, and follow a big chamber downwards. The walls are covered in multi-coloured sponges, and near the exit point at 35m the deep colour of red coral branches is revealed by torch light. The side of the grotto and the sea in it are a silvery-blue colour.This is due to the sunrays which penetrate through a hole under the surface and reflect against the white bottom of the grotto, thus creating incredibly beautiful light effects.
